ACENOL P

ACENOL P is a powder flocculant for the complete removing of glass particles from the grinding solution while processing glass.

It is used on commercially available as well as suitable self constructed flocculation systems equipped with a powder dosage device and a corresponding stirrer. It also flocculates itself completely in aqueous solutions even if there are no glass fines. As a result the danger of overdosing is virtually excluded (repeated overdosing over a longer period should yet be avoided).

ACENOL P must be added to the grinding solution only as a powder!

ACENOL P was specially adapted to AC-coolant concentrates in order to guarantee that the coolant solutions are not affected adversely by the flocculant. Before using ACENOL P with other coolant concentrates our application laboratory should be contacted.

Application

ACENOL P is added directly into the flocculation tank filled with contaminated grinding solution by means of a screw conveyor combined with a vibrator under stirring. While adding care should be taken that the flocculant distributes itself uniformly without agglomeration.

Flocculation starts after approx. 1,5 - 2 minutes and ends after 6 - 8 minutes. During this period continuous stirring is necessary. When the stirrer is stopped, the flakes start settling. After about 8 – 10 minutes a sludge phase is formed which can be removed by means of a scraper or by draining and filtration. Normally the sludge phase is filtrated (e.g. by vacuum filtration or chamber filter press) and the clean coolant solution is fed back into the circuit.

Recommended use concentrations

For initial tests we recommend to use 200 grams ACENOL P per m³ contaminated coolant solution. Depending on the type and amount of glass fines and the desired degree of purity of the grinding solution the use concentration can be varied (the higher the amount of glass particles the higher in general also the amount of ACENOL P). However, a level of 100 grams per m³ should not be undercut and a quantity of 400 grams per m³ should not be exceeded.

According to our experiences the average use concentration is between 150 - 200 grams ACENOL Pper m³ grinding solution.

Handling

ACENOL P does not need to be labelled in accordance with EC directives or respective national laws. For more safety information please see the Material Safety Data Sheet.

Storage

ACENOL P has to be stored in well-closed containers at temperatures between 5 to 40°C. The minimum shelf-life is 9 months.
